Water is stained and dingy

Black Bass are very good on spinner baits, jigs and Carolina rigs on the sandy drops.  Run the bluffs on windy days with a spinner bait or a square billed crank bait.  Try a football jig in about 12 to 20 ft off of the points.  The bait fish are very concentrated, so make sure you have your favorite spoon handy when you see a bait ball on the fish finder! 

Crappie are being caught more over brush pile “lie downs” than around standing timber.  Live minnows, swimming minnows and 1/8 oz spoons have been working good.  Look for them in the 12 to 15 foot range in the deeper coves. 

Walleye have been better when dragging or bottom bouncing live night crawlers than the standard crank bait approach.  Several came in this week from bass fishermen hitting them on a spinner bait!  A 6 lb walleye was brought in yesterday evening on a spinner bait just down the bluff from the marina!  Now that the lake is back to normal, start working the cuts in the sand flats near the main river channel. 

White Bass have been boiling up on shad in the late afternoons and early evenings.  Have a lip-less crank bait or small spinner bait ready to fire into the feeding frenzy!  With the limited number of people who were able to fish this year and the amount of bait fish that the high water produced, the white bass should be everywhere for quite some time!

Water is Clear to Stained.

Black Bass- Very good on Football Jigs, Plastic Worms and Square Billed Crank Baits.  When dragging the jig, try to have a skirt that has the color purple in it.  Brown and purple flash and a peanut butter &  jelly seem to do great on this end of the lake.  When throwing a worm, go with a 10″ Plum, Texas rigged.  Try steep rocky banks leading into the coves.

Walleye - Fair numbers of walleye are being caught down the lake from the dock in about 20 to 30 ft of water.  Medium range crank baits and bottom bouncing a night crawler have been the best. 

Crappie - Slow going on this fish right now.  More have been caught trolling than actually hitting where they should be.  When the lake stabilizes, this should change and live minnows will be the go to bait.
